JAESUNG YOON
ASSOCIATE
Jaesung Yoon serves as an Associate with Helmsley Spear, LLC, where his focus is on the development of leasing and investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Helmsley Spear, Mr. Yoon served as a Business Analyst with Lotte, the largest hotel operator in South Korea. Mr. Yoon specialized in Lotte’s business expansion initiative in North America. He advised the CEO on submarket trends and investigated feasibility of potential investments. These ranged from simple acquisitions, HMAs, and creating equity structure with business partners. Mr. Yoon drafted the business structure template for Lotte’s HMAs and Franchise Agreements which is used by the company to this day.
In addition, Mr. Yoon conducted cash flow modeling and financial forecasting on properties acquired or under due diligence. One of these include the Lotte New York Palace, a landmarked luxury hotel in Midtown Manhattan with over 900 rooms and 30,000 square feet of event space. His work with the Palace earned him the ‘2019 Lotte Rising Star Award’ by the General Manager.
Mr. Yoon is an active member of the local community as well. He has previously worked as an Analyst in the Korean Chamber of Commerce and has maintained a close relationship with the Korean-American community. He has arranged an official delegation of Korean businesses to the United States Capitol and liaised meetings with American legislators. His involvement was publicized and publicly appreciated by the Chairman of the Korean Chamber.
Mr. Yoon earned his Bachelor’s degree from Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, as well as a Master’s degree in Real Estate from Columbia University in New York.
During his time in Hanyang, Mr. Yoon has served as the head of the student council, and the head of the Hanyang Debate Society. He was selected as a sponsored student from the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work in urban development projects in the Korean Embassy to the Philippines. He was appointed by Hanyang University to represent the school to the United Nations, where he organized teams of fellow students and personally presented a proposal to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs in the UN Headquarters in New York. His achievements were published by the school news magazine on two separate occasions.
