LEONARD ZIMMERMAN
Executive Managing Director
Len Zimmerman serves as Executive Managing Director at Helmsley Spear.
Mr. Zimmerman had previously served as Executive Managing Director and Principal at Lee and Associates New York City when he joined the firm in 2013. He has strong experience and expertise in the healthcare and non-profit arenas, with clients including Mount Sinai Health System, Continuum Health Partners, CUNY, Clark School for the Deaf, and the Screen Actors Guild. He has also completed many large transactions for major for-profit companies, including 500,000 square feet and a 490,000 square feet transaction for Qwest Corporation, a 48,000 square feet transaction for Intermap Network Services, and a 50,000 square feet transaction for Meridian Capital Group.
Throughout his real estate career, Mr. Zimmerman has served in several senior management positions. He worked with CBRE from 2008-2013, where he worked on new business acquisitions and established strong relationships with national and international companies. Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Zimmerman was with Grubb and Ellis for nine years, where he provided tenant representation services for office and data sites, including strategic real estate planning and implementation, market research and lease negotiations.
Before joining the real estate industry, Mr. Zimmerman lived and worked throughout Southeast Asia for 16 years, including Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and the Philippines. He owned an import/export business and was involved with manufacturing as a partner in an athletic footwear factory. Mr. Zimmerman most notably served as a highly effective labor negotiation representative, helping settle numerous labor disputes abroad. He represented commercial entities in the negotiation of labor contracts with commercial business interests and international governing bodies in Southeast Asia, Central America, and Russia.
Mr. Zimmerman attended Queens College and Baruch College, with a major in economics and business. He resides in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
